Substances used in many sectors such as industry, chemistry, energy, health and agriculture are considered hazardous due to their characteristics. The transportation of such substances is subject to special regulations. One of the most important of these regulations is the ADR (Accord Dangereux Routier), or the European Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road.
What is ADR?
ADR is an international agreement adopted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in 1957 and regulates the transportation of hazardous substances by road. Turkey became a party to ADR in 2010 and started to implement these rules in road transport.
Dangerous goods transportation is a logistics activity that carries great responsibility in terms of human health, the environment and public safety. ADR offers a system that standardizes this process and makes it safe. Compliance with the rules, qualified personnel and effective inspection are indispensable for the success of this transportation.
